complete process wiring in a turnkey format.

This 75,000 square foot office building in Ottawa was designed to be their head office with underground parking. Janick Electric’s electrical design included lobby feature lighting, office lighting with occupancy sensor control, harmonic transformers for energy savings and power quality. This project was completed on time and on budget.

This 1.35 million square foot distribution centre for retail giant, Target will service stores in Eastern Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces. It is located on a 169 acre site in the Cornwall Business Park and is one of three major distribution facilities commissioned for construction in Canada.
This job was a collaborative effort with Janick Electric and sister company East Current Electric. The project was completed on time and on budget.

This entirely new college campus facility is state of the art. Electrical design to meet LEED Silver certification. This campus features fully functioning hospital equipment for hands-on training purposes.
This location is approximately 84,000 square feet and houses approximately 4,500 students. The Davis Campus has a new Student Centre, Athletic Facility, Library and Full Service Cafeteria.
Some of the special electrical design features at this location are Intelligent daylight sensing, architectural lighting, hospital grade environment, and a bi-fuel generator system.

Project: B-Wing Renovation to Educational Facility

This project consisted of an interior building renovation to the B-Wing Building on the Davis Campus in Brampton. The
renovations were primarily located on the concourse level. The project scope included modifications to the main entrance and
new exterior walkway and canopies.
The electrical systems included lighting, distribution, emergency lighting, occupancy sensors, fire alarm, as well as data and communications.

This project involved the construction of a 9,000 square foot Council Chamber for the city of Oshawa which achieved LEED Silver certification. The building features a new audio/visual system and has been architecturally designed to be more spacious and accessible to the public.

This multi-use 5,500 seat facility was electrically designed to accommodate High Definition televised events, concerts, hockey and trade shows The building features full in-house broadcasting capabilities, media bulkhead system, and state-of-the-art Information Technology and Telephony equipment.
In addition, Janick Electric was responsible to fully design and undertake the relocation of all underground hydro services and street lighting systems surrounding the site.
Janick Electric continues to provide services to this facility acting as the in-house contractor through facility maintenance and event/show hook-ups.

Project: Frozen Food Product Plant

Western Waffles is the world’s largest manufacturer of private
label frozen waffles. The 130,000 square foot manufacturing
area is distinguished by its focus on extreme “cleanability” and
sanitation; all walls, ceilings and freezer panels can be
hosed down.
The freezing, baking and warehouse were designed to
accommodate state of the art food preparation requirements.
Janick Electric designed and installed complete process wiring
at this facility.
The design in the 8,000 square foot offices compliments the
architectural features including waterfalls and a granite slab floor.
The lighting was designed to accent those and other features
including sculptures and numerous pieces of artwork.

Project: Document Storage Facility

Security is a Records Management, Data Protection and Shred-it Document Destruction facility located in Ottawa Ontario. Janick Electric provided electrical design build to the strictest standards at this facility. This 85,930 square foot location has six levels of racking with precise lighting and sprinkler coordination.

In 2007, Bombardier Inc. required conversions to the Customer
Delivery Centre Bay 12 at Downsview Airport in Toronto.
Janick’s electrical team provided demolition and renovations to the
existing 54,000 square foot hangar which included new aircraft
lighting and process work.
We provided installations more unique to airports
including static grounding points for aircrafts; as aircrafts in flight
produce static electricity, these static grounding cables ground the
aircraft so that there is no static discharge during fueling & maintenance.
We also installed a FOD (Foreign Object Debris) system which is
designed to detect foreign objects on the runway to protect the
aircrafts.
The work done on this project was performed to comply with the
airside work safety program to ensure that all ground operations
do not interfere with airport traffic and that all employees may
work confidently in a safe environment.

This project involved the design/build of a new hangar facility at the
Buttonville Municipal Airport in Markham, Ontario. Janick Electric
provided a new service to this facility for housing municipal
emergency helicopter and various tenant-related aircraft.
This project involved airside work and apron aircraft warning
lighting,which translates into constant vigilance due to the
potentially dangerous working environment.
Another provision more unique to airport work is static grounding
points for aircrafts. As aircrafts in flight produce static electricity,
these static grounding cables ground the aircraft so that there is no
static discharge during fueling and maintenance.
This project also included communication tower, gate work, static
grounding, and a massive electrically heated rail hangar door. Our
design incorporated FOD (Foreign Object Debris) control system
which is designed to detect foreign objects to protect the aircrafts.
This design and construction also entailed connections to current
airport Fire Alarm, Telephone/Data, and Security systems.

This project involved the design/build of a new taxiway at the
Buttonville Municipal Airport in Markham, Ontario. Janick Electric
designed and constructed all taxiway lighting and civil work. This
involved shut downs and connection to existing lighting system
during non-peak hours.
The civil work involved underground boaring or torpedo work under
existing runways to install the new aircraft lighting system.
This project also involved airside work and civil work, which
translates into constant vigilance due to the potentially
dangerous working environment. The airside safety program is
in place to ensure that all ground operations do not interfere
with airport traffic and that all employees may work confidently
in a safe environment.
Janick Electric was also responsible for the preparation and
completion of all documentation under the Canadian Aviation
Regulations for Transport Canada. There was an emergency
landing that took place during the course of this project
and our team provided a quick response while working on
the runway.

Project: Westjet Hangar Deluge System

The Hamilton International Airport Westjet Hangar required a
deluge system - a modified sprinkler system designed to protect
high hazard areas containing large amounts of fuel.
Janick Electric Limited provided a complete design-build
turnkey solution for the Westjet Hangar which included the
installation of a remote water storage and water reservoir
system which was tied into airport fire alarm network system.
We also provided security and monitoring systems for the
airport. The work done on this project was performed to
comply with the airside work safety program to ensure
that all ground operations do not interfere with airport
traffic and that all employees may work confidently in a
safe environment.

Janick Electric Limited provided a complete design-build turnkey
solution to the Greater Toronto Airport Authority for this facility.
The Glycol Recycling facility recycles all glycol used for de-icing
the aircraft at Lester B. Pearson International Airport.
This project involved airside work, which translates into constant
vigilance due to the potentially dangerous working
environment.
Systems at this facility included all pumping, controls, and
process works as well as tie-in to the existing Fire Alarm,
Security, and Fibre Optic Systems.
While working at this project, staff from Janick were called out
for an emergency after hours response and ensured all systems
were up and running in a safe and timely manner.

Project: Aircraft Maintenance Facility Renovation

This project involved the renovation of a maintenance facility
for Jazz Airline located at Toronto’s Pearson International
Airport.
We provided installation that is unique to airports including

Project: Manufacturing Plant Relocation
Location: Toronto, ON
Completed: 2003
In 2003, the Boeing Company required relocation to a new facility
for production of the Avro Arrow plane. At this location, the
aircraft components and wings were to be constructed.
Janick’s electrical team provided the decommissioning and removal
of old machinery and prepared for the relocation of a massive
autoclave system to the new location. There was a significant
amount of process machinery relocation.
This project involved the design and installation of a new High
Voltage service. The work done on this project was performed
to comply with the airside work safety program. The purpose of
this program is to ensure that all ground operations do not
interfere with airport traffic and that all employees may
work confidently in a safe environment.
The High Voltage was struck by lightning during construction
and Janick performed emergency repairs.

College Charles Lemoyne is the largest French private school in
Quebec. The 103,000 square foot, two-storey campus includes
thirty-two classrooms, four laboratories, a library, cafeteria,
gymnasium, administrative offices and a football field.

These historically significant structures have been renovated as
part of Humber College Phase 8, Robert A. Gordon Learning
Centre. Buildings I and K electrical renovations consisted of
lighting, low voltage lighting controls for daylight harvesting,
distribution, voice/data, security, audio/visual, master clock and
fire alarm systems while maintaining Heritage status of
buildings.

This entirely new K-12 school facility complete with a family resource centre has been completed in L’Anse Au Loup, Labrador.
While working on this project our team had to contend with adverse weather conditions and coordinate deliveries of material
and equipment with limited access.
This school has been constructed with security, clock, telephone data, CCTV, fire alarm and digital lighting control systems.
Despite the challenges of working in a remote location and under extreme weather conditions, with limited access, this job
was completed on budget and with only minor delays to occupancy.

Project: Emergency Generator Power

This project involved the installation of a 2MW generator on
the roof of the downtown Toronto site.
The key feature of this site was the once in a lifetime
installation of 12 runs of 500MCM solid copper 2 hour
fire rated mineral insulated cable from the basement to
the generator on the roof.
The feeders were routed and pulled within the occupied
spaces of the college. The run consisted of nine 90
degree bends - this was coupled with massive
distribution equipment, heavy cables, complex transfer
schemes and existing antique distribution tie ins.

Project: 407 ETR Call Centre

Quickly after the initial construction of the toll highway, the
control and operations facility was faced with the need to
expand their facility quickly. This project involved the
expansion of the existing distribution system, UPS systems and
backup power supply to accommodate the new 24/7 call
centre.
All work occurred within occupied space and amidst all
existing operations.
The most critical part of this project was the successful integration
into the existing power systems with little or no disruption to the real
time financial sensitive systems already running.

Janick Electric Limited was responsible for providing a fast turnaround for tenant upgrade at this 220,000 square foot building. Ford Motor Company has leased 100% of this space.
This project involved upgrades from a Shell Warehouse to an upgraded facility complete with racking, an intensive battery charging setup and multiple main power positions for equipment as well as office upgrades.
This project was fast-tracked and complete tenant upgrade was provided in less than three months.

The 50,000 square foot call centre included the AOL Eastern
Canada main server room, fire alarm, security and telephone
data systems along with specialized lighting designs for their

The power systems were designed around harmonic

Project: Document Storage Facility

Archives ONE is a P3 initiative 66,000 square foot facility for
the long term storage of archived documentation of the Province
of Ontario. Janick Electrical provided electrical design build of
systems within the vaults provide for “museum quality” temperature
and humidity control, with elaborate provisions for security and
fire protection.
Systems were designed for 100% redundancy. Fire protection was
provided by state of the art high tech detection systems.

Project: Surface Water Treatment Plant (SWTP)

Janick Electric Limited performed the electrical installation at the 122,000 square foot Barrie Surface Water Treatment Plant (SWTP) as part of a collaborate infrastructure effort with a wastewater treatment contractor. The value of this project was $20 million and scope of work included high voltage, scada system, instrumentation and controls, low level pumping station, full building construction, infrastructure, generator system, security, communications, cctv, medium and low voltage switchgear.
The overall construction cost of this state of the art facility was $200 million. This facility utilizes the latest technology to draw water from the depths of Kempenfelt Bay in order to supply additional water requirements as they present themselves.

The CBS Labs is a critical services laboratory facility. This
27,400 square foot facility is equipped with numerous
redundant systems to provide a reliable operational system.
The facility is equipped with a 500kW diesel generator capable
of providing standby power for the entire facility.
A complex mechanical system provides reliability to various
high tolerance coolers. With an intense schedule, the project,
with an electrical value of $510,00 was completed on time
and on budget.

The Consolidated Maintenance Facility for the City of Kitchener houses operations from five pre-existing locations. It also houses approximately 500 city employees, as well as their work-related vehicles and equipment. This building was designed to LEED Silver standard and also has a 68,000 sq ft solar roof. The overall project value is $50 million.
This building brings streamlined services to the community, maintained and improved service levels and improved efficiency of vehicle use. Building uses include: fleet repair, greenhouses, parks and woodland maintenance, road maintenance, salt storage, snow clearing, central stores and bulk material storage, corporate call centre and gas line works/utilities.
The electrical installation at this retrofit building involved a great deal of demolition with care to ensure materials were removed safely and disposed of. Our team worked efficiently to ensure project to completion in the timelines prescribed. Janick Electric is providing ongoing maintenance and electrical service to this fleet maintenance facility. In addition to this, Janick is also providing electrical service and maintenance to the City of Kitchener and surrounding area.

This 50,000 square foot production facility services the dairy
industry. Dry-mix food ingredients are combined and stored
before being shipped to companies such as Parmalat and
Nestle for use in ice cream, yogurt and other dairy production.

Euro United is a leader in the injection moldings industry and
this building was required for their corporate headquarters. A
larger atrium lobby with domed ceiling and circular stairway,
expanded second floor office and showroom were all designed
with special care to provide upscale architectural features,
signature lighting fixtures and RPI recessed units were
incorporated to provide architectural lighting with
functionality.
The Electrical value of this project was approximately $400,000.

This 10-story office development has been designed to meet LEED Gold certification and is approximately 250,000 square feet in size. To achieve this LEED certification, structures must reflect a commitment to sustainability and the preservation of the environment in planning, design, construction and use.
The first tenant (Bank of Montreal) has signed an agreement to lease in what will be the largest new office building in Mississauga. This location is now fully leased.

To service their retail outlets in Ontario, Quebec and Eastern
Canada, Future Shop consolidated several existing facilities into
a single 440,00 SQ FT distribution centre, repair/return depot
and regional head office.
The design included for energy savings with high low dimming
fixtures, open area metal halide pulse start lighting, conveyor
feeds, security systems, telephone data and fibre for both the
office and warehouse. The electrical design as produced
energy consumption levels well below normal for this type of
facility.

This eight-screen, 31,000 square foot state-of-the-art theatre is
the first LEED candidate theatre in Canada for Cineplex
Entertainment.
The new theatre was designed to use energy efficient
equipment to reduce electricity, water and gas consumption.
The building was constructed using both regionally sourced
and recycled materials to reduce the environmental impact
resulting from transportation.

General Dynamics Canada is a secure access facility for maintenance work on military grade vehicles.
The Janick Electric team designed and constructed this facility complete with process and machinery wiring.
This project involved very high security clearance and was approximately 30,000 sq ft in size.

Hitachi developed a new centralized location for office staff and
sales teams. The sales division has on site demonstration
capabilities with sophisticated demonstration lab equipped
with in floor power distribution system, decorative lighting and
high end communications.
The office was built to adhere to energy efficient standards.

As part of the continuing development of the Hopewell
Distribution Campus at Air-port Road and Highway 7 in
Brampton, Hopewell Logistics Inc. negotiated an agreement to
provide logistics services for Nestlé Canada Inc.
Nestlé’s current and future requirements are satisfied in a
new 540,000 square foot distribution facility, including
262,700 square feet of temperature-controlled space and a
40,000 square foot office area.
Janick Electric Ltd. design-build division is responsible for
the overall Electrical Design. This design includes the lighting
installation for a clear height of 30-feet to allow maximum
flexibility in product storage and lighting for the extensive
parking and significant trailer storage area.
This large project was fast tracked and was delivered
within a nine month schedule.

Currently known as Iceland Mississauga this high end 4-rink arena
was completed in a fast track schedule within 1996. The facility
consists of 4 ice pads (one @ 95’ x 200’ with over 1500 seats), pro
shop facilities, large lobby, offices, instruction/training rooms, music/
press rooms, arcade, toddler play area, lounges, bars and a
restaurant.
The principals of Janick Electric were responsible for all
the Electrical Design and implementation while working for another
firm. This was a Giffels Design Build project.
The main high voltage transformer vault supplied a 2,000A
service switchboard, fire alarm system, PA sound, CCTV and
upgraded lighting system.

In late 1999, Jancox Stamping, a major supplier of high quality
metal and plastic parts to the auto industry, wished to relocate
its stamping plant from Etobicoke to a more strategic location
in Brampton.
Janick’s electrical team completed the design and installation
on time and on budget. The facility was modified to meet
Jancox’s requirements. In addition to the design and
construction of the facility, Janick’s industrial process group
designed and installed the electrical process power to optimize
manufacturing efficiency.
The 84,667 square foot facility is 24’-0” clear, equipped with a
20-ton crane, process bus duct servicing stamping presses, and
pulse start metal-halide lighting.

This new 385,000 square foot distribution centre is located off the Transcanada Highway and is one of the largest buildings in New Brunswick. East Current Electric Inc. completed this project on time and on budget. This facility provides the competitiveness to better serve some 43 Kent stores.

This 354,000 square foot manufacturing plant is a Tier-1 automotive supplier for under-body structural parts, providing components to companies worldwide. Some of the key elements that make up this facility include presses, die and coil handling, overhead cranes, underfloor scrap conveyors, scrap loading facility, and welding operations.
Janick Electric Ltd. provided design and construction for such special systems as compressed air, plant power distribution for automatic welding equipment and incoming power supply and transformation. The overall electrical project value is $4,300,000.00.

The construction of this 245,000 square foot cold storage, warehouse and office facility in Brampton involved extensive high voltage work. Janick Electric designed a 4,000A service with provisions to double the size. This project entailed a significantly long primary duct bank with walk in manholes.
The building features underfloor electric heating system that has been designed to fit time of use billing. It also features CFIA complaint design, a VFD controlled evaporator system and hi/low metal halide lighting system with individual sensors for maximum energy savings performance.
